Saint Basset Breed Description

Saint Basset have a very high rough housing tolerance and a gentle, protective way with kids, who can expect the dog to be a tireless playmate. However, they also have a very affectionate and soft side, which can be beneficial to owners with young kids. Underneath their very large appearance, these dogs are kind and loving, reliable with family members, and a great companion and guardian. This makes them great family pets, and most can also get along well with animals of any species.

These hybrids are considered quite friendly dogs and will be tolerant to well-behaved children; they also are great with other pets and dogs but may try and take on the dominating role. The breed is typically playful and eager to please and while he may take a minute to warm up to strangers, he will not show aggression. They usually get along well with others and are not territorial. They prefer to be around their owner or family at all times and do not do well in a household where they are left alone.
