Pronunciation: POOH-guhl

The Poogle, which is the offspring of a Poodle and a Beagle, is an intelligent, active crossbreed that has been fairly popular since its origin in the U.S. in the 1980's. A majority of Poogles have either Miniature or Toy Poodles as half of the parental line, and are small-sized; a few larger Poogles are produced by crossing a Beagle with a Standard Poodle, making them medium-sized. Since a Poodle (thick, curly coat) and a Beagle (short coat) have quite different fur, their Poogle descendants' fur may vary as well, from short to long and straight to curly. Anyone wishing to adopt a fun-loving, loyal, flamboyant Poogle will want to be familiar with the characteristics of both the Poodle and the Beagle.

Poogle Breed Description

The Poogle, also known as the Beapoo or the Beaglepoo, is a crossbreed that is the offspring of a purebred Poodle and a purebred Beagle. These small- to medium-sized dogs have varied coat lengths and colors, and are active, friendly animals that interact well with children.

Since its Poodle and Beagle parents are normally bright, this crossbreed is likewise highly intelligent. A Poogle usually responds very well to training, is exceptionally observant, and can learn new tricks at the drop of a hat.

Poogles also absolutely love humans. They bond with family members of any age, and will enjoy nothing more than showing off the tricks they know to anyone who'll watch. Poogles are great watchdogs, too; though they're not excessively "barky," dogs of this breed have no problem sounding a vocal alarm when confronted with a strange sight or sound.

These dogs are small but active. They're considered quite the busybody breed, and will spend much of their time scurrying around the house. Due to their small size, though, Poogles will tire more quickly than some other breeds if engaged in prolonged physical activity.

Poogle Health

Poogles are a quite healthy crossbreed overall, but like any dogs, they can be prone to certain issues. Common health problems include ear infections, obesity, eye issues, and epilepsy. Additionally, Poogles may have dental trouble, so their teeth may require regular brushing.
