Hava-apso Breed Details
Below are details and specs for the Hava-Apso dog breed.
The Hava-Apso is a relatively new designer dog cross-bred from the Havanese and the Lhasa Apso. This small dog is a great family pet and is good with children, highly energetic and very loving. They will require a lot of maintenance, however, as they are small, should be trained with positive reinforcement methods and must be groomed rather frequently. They are basically hypoallergenic, and while they don't shed much, they will need daily brushings to keep the coat clean and free of dead hair. They will bark a good bit but with proper and early training, this can be curbed. Like most small dogs, they easily adapt to apartment living but they do need their daily exercise and they will be much happier if they get that exercise outdoors.
Below are details and specs for the Hava-Apso dog breed.
Although Hava-Apsos are small dogs that weigh from 7 to 15 pounds and stand from 8.5 to 11 inches high, they don't seem to know it! They will usually challenge larger dogs.
Your Hava-Apso will be easily excitable, eager to meet everyone they can and nearly always ready to play. When they are not seeking excitement, they'll be just as happy to be at your feet or in your lap. They will adore children, but kids should be taught to be careful so that injury doesn't result during playtime. They also make great watchdogs.
Hava-Apsos are relatively high-maintenance dogs that require daily brushings, daily walks and somewhat frequent bathing to keep their often curly (but sometimes straight) and silky hair clean. Their ears should be monitored closely (and gently cleaned on a weekly basis) as they are prone to ear infections and allergies.
Your Hava-Apso may come in an assortment of coat colors including white, silver, black, gray or brown. They should have their coats trimmed closely if you live in a hot climate, but if you live in a cold climate, be sure to fit them with a coat when outdoors.
