Borzoi Whippet Breed Description

The Borzoi Whippet is a very smart, courageous, and sprightly dog. These dogs are very playful and love toys and other dogs. Since this fun-loving breed enjoys smiling so much, it isn't a hard trick to teach. They are not aggressive and not likely to bark, which makes them poor alert or guard dogs but good choices for owners with frequent visitors.

He is a friendly and energetic dog who will happily chase cats and other small animals. The Borzoi Whippet is a partner dog with moderate to high energy. This breed is usually well behaved around other pets but if not shown proper authority by the owner, they can be dog aggressive. The Borzoi is not an optimal guardian since he is not overly territorial and loves everyone he meets. The Borzoi Whippet is especially likely to bark and howl when left alone for long periods, so before acquiring one, consider whether you'll be home frequently enough to keep him happy. Although they are sweet, even-tempered dogs, Borzoi Whippet are not recommended for first-time dog owners because of their training and exercise needs.

Borzoi Whippet Health

A Borzoi Whippet mix will most likely be healthier than either purebred parent. This is because when there is greater genetic variation between the two parents (in this case, 2 separate breeds) there is a wider gene pool and less of a chance to inherit genetic defects. We recommend reading up on the health issues of both the Borzoi and the Whippet to familiarize yourself with all possible conditions-- pay special attention to the ones that overlap both breeds.
