Purebred Dog Breeds
A purebred dog is any dog breed which has been selectively bred to produce offspring with the exact same characteristics and traits of the parent breeds. Most purebred dogs are bred when two dogs of the same breed mate and produce offspring. However, when a breed is close to extinction organizations may attempt to reproduce the breed's bloodline by re-breeding the dogs which were originally responsible for the breed's heritage.
While most purebred dogs are accepted by all kennel clubs, some purebred dogs do not meet the requirements. Breeds which are very rare, breeds which are considered "new", and breeds which are considered dangerous often don't meet the purebred requirements of many dog clubs. Below we have listed all of the purebred dogs (including those which are only accepted at a few kennel clubs).
