Akita Newfoundland Breed Description

Because of his exuberance, he may be too much dog for first time dog owners and he may also not be suitable for young children. The new combination dog is designed to exhibit the best traits of each parent breed, producing an affectionate, loyal, easy going dog that is excellent with families and small children. They succeeded, and these giant dogs are now kept as loving family friendly pets. The Akita Newfoundland is a demanding dog but will bring a ardent and comical spirit to the household.

Though most Akita Newfoundland dogs are fine with other family pets, including the family cat, quite a few Akita Newfoundland are dominant or aggressive toward other dogs of the same sex, and some are cat chasers. It also has a tendency to be cautious with newcomers and aggressive towards other dogs. They are however not recommended for first time dog owners but rather someone with experience.
