Amitola Bulldog Dog Breed

Other names:
Amitola Bull Dog

Amitola Bulldogs are American bred dogs and are named for the wide range of coat colors that exist (Amitola means "rainbow" in some Native American groups). Although a separate breed, they are quite similar looking to the English Bulldog. Amitolas are an exceptional choice for those wanting a low-maintenance, affectionate dog to be part of the family; these dogs are affectionate, loyal playmates to children as well as notorious cuddlers. They are also a great choice for houses (or apartments) with multiple pets, as they are typically friendly and non-aggressive. A daily walk and weekly brushing will keep these dogs content.

Amitola Bulldog Breed Description

Members of this breed can be one of 3 distinct sizes. Minis are 11-14 inches at shoulder height and 22-45 pounds. Bantams 13-16 inches tall, often weigh 30-50 pounds. The largest, "titans", will reach 16 inches at minimum and start at 50 pounds. Females are typically a bit smaller than males.

Amitolas are very loving, affectionate family members that are calm indoors and somewhat playful out. They enjoy a good cuddle and make beyond excellent companions for kids. These dogs are also accepting of other pets, whether they be cats or dogs. Although intelligent and loyal, this is not the first choice for one desiring a guard dog or watch dog.

These dogs respond well to training and will typically have one or two favorite people they listen to. They don't need much exercise, a daily walk will do, and will be suitable indoor dogs. A weekly brushing will help remove dead hairs from the coat, otherwise, bathe as needed. Regularly clean the wrinkles gently, clean the teeth and ears, and trim the nails.

There are no coat restrictions regarding color for this breed; anything goes! (including brindle, spots, etc.). They enjoy swimming and are heat tolerant, making them suitable companions for a vacation.
